Privacy Settings

Control who can see your profile and how your data is used. All privacy settings are in Settings > Privacy.

Profile Visibility

Choose who can see your profile and trading data.

Setting Who Can See
Public Anyone can view your profile
Friends Only Only friends can view your profile
Private Only you can see your profile

Changing Visibility

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy
  2. Find Profile Visibility
  3. Select your preferred option
  4. Click Save Visibility

Public Data Settings

When your profile is public, you can choose what information others see:

  • Show Stats - Display trading stats and streaks
  • Show Achievements - Display earned achievements
  • Show Trading History - Allow others to see journal entries

Toggle each option on or off based on your preference.

Activity Visibility

Control who can see when you're online:

  • Show Online Status - Let others see when you're currently active
  • Show Last Seen - Display when you were last active

Turn these off if you prefer to browse privately.

Data Retention

Tradavity has two types of data retention: system data (configurable by you) and plan-based retention (based on your subscription).

System Data Retention (All Users)

You can choose how long system data is stored before automatic deletion:

  • Login History - Records of when and where you logged in (default: 365 days)
  • Old Sessions - Expired session data (default: 90 days)
  • Activity Logs - Activity tracking data (default: 180 days)

Setting Retention Periods

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy
  2. Find Data Retention
  3. Enter the number of days for each type (0-3650)
  4. Click Save Retention Settings
Keep Data Forever

Set any value to 0 to keep that data forever. Automatic cleanup runs daily.

Plan-Based Data Retention (FREE Users)

On the FREE plan, your trading data has two retention tiers:

Screenshots (files on disk) 6 months Unlimited
Database records (trades, journal entries, backtesting data) 24 months Unlimited

This means on the FREE plan:

  • After 6 months: Screenshot image files are archived (hidden from your journal and dashboard). The trade record itself stays.
  • After 24 months: Trade records, journal entries, backtesting sessions, and all related data are archived.

PRO users have unlimited retention — nothing is ever archived or deleted.

How the Archive System Works

Data is not deleted immediately. Instead, it goes through a two-stage process:

  1. Archived (30-day recovery): Data is hidden from your dashboard, journal, statistics, and calendar. It remains on our servers and can be fully restored if you upgrade to Pro within 30 days.
  2. Permanently deleted: After 30 days in the archive, data is permanently removed from our servers and cannot be recovered.

Downgrade Protection

When your plan changes from Pro to Free (or a beta/trial expires), you receive:

  • A 14-day grace period where no archiving occurs at all
  • Email warnings at 30 days, 7 days, and 1 day before any data is archived
  • An in-app notification about the upcoming archiving

If you upgrade back to Pro at any point during the archive window, all your data is restored instantly.

What Stays Forever (All Plans)

Your account, settings, strategies, protocols, chart templates, saved layouts, goals, and streaks are never affected by data retention. Only content that accumulates over time (trades, screenshots, journal entries, backtesting sessions) is subject to archiving.

Cookie Preferences

Manage how we use cookies:

Toggle analytics and marketing cookies based on your preferences.

Data Sharing

You can choose whether to share anonymized usage data:

  • Anonymized Data Sharing - Share anonymous usage data for research to help improve the platform

This data is completely anonymous and cannot be traced back to you.

Export Your Data

Download all your data for GDPR compliance:

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy
  2. Find Export Your Data
  3. Click Download My Data (JSON)

The export includes your profile, settings, activity history, and AI Chat conversations. You choose which categories to include.

GDPR Compliance

Data export is available to all users (FREE and PRO) as required by GDPR regulations. You have the right to access all data we store about you.

Default Settings

When you create an account, your default privacy settings are:

  • Profile Visibility: Public
  • Show Stats Publicly: On
  • Show Achievements Publicly: On
  • Show Trading History: Off
  • Show Online Status: On
  • Show Last Seen: On
  • Analytics Tracking: On
  • Marketing Emails: On
  • Data Sharing: Off

You can change any of these at any time.

Tips for Privacy

  • Review regularly - Check your privacy settings periodically
  • Think before sharing - Consider if you want your trading stats visible to others
  • Use Private mode - If you're a private trader, set your profile to Private
  • Manage cookies - Disable non-essential cookies if you prefer minimal tracking
