How Drawing Tools Work

Vertical Lines

Lines appear at the exact time you specified on each selected weekday:

  • Drawn as vertical lines spanning the chart height
  • Appear at the target time in the chosen timezone
  • Only drawn on selected weekdays

Horizontal Lines

Lines appear at the OHLC price of the bar at the specified time:

  • Drawn as horizontal lines across the chart width
  • Price level taken from the candle at the target time
  • Example: "Close" at 4:00 PM draws a line at that day's closing price

Example Setups

Stock Market Sessions

  • "Market Open" - Vertical line at 9:30 AM, Mon-Fri, America/New_York
  • "Market Close" - Vertical line at 4:00 PM, Mon-Fri, America/New_York
  • "Prev Day Close" - Horizontal line (Close) at 4:00 PM, Mon-Fri, America/New_York

Day Trading Levels

  • "Opening Price" - Horizontal line (Open) at 9:30 AM, Mon-Fri
  • "Prev Day High" - Horizontal line (High) at 4:00 PM, Mon-Fri
  • "Prev Day Low" - Horizontal line (Low) at 4:00 PM, Mon-Fri

Tips

  • Use colors wisely - Different colors for different session markers
  • Don't overload - Too many active tools can make charts cluttered
  • Name clearly - Descriptive names make tools easy to identify
  • Match timezone to market - Critical for accurate line placement

Common Issues

Lines at Wrong Time

Check that you selected the correct timezone and verify the time is set correctly (AM/PM).

No Lines Appearing

Make sure the tool is enabled (button highlighted), the current date matches selected weekdays, and the chart is zoomed to show the target time.

Tool Auto-Disabled

When the maximum of 12 active tools is reached, enabling a new tool automatically disables the oldest active tool.
