Goals Guide
Goals help you track your backtesting performance and stay motivated. Set targets for key metrics and monitor your progress over time.
Accessing Goals
Goals can be accessed in two ways:
- Goals tab in the right panel during a session
- Goals page from the left navigation sidebar
Creating a Goal
- Navigate to the Goals section
- Click New Goal
- Enter a Goal Title (required)
- Enter a Description (optional)
- Select a Priority (Low, Medium, High, or Critical)
- Set a Target Completion Date (optional)
- Link to a Backtesting Profile (optional)
- Select a Tracker Type (required - see below)
- Configure tracker-specific settings (target value, symbol, etc.)
- Click Create Goal
Tracker Types
Each goal uses a tracker type that determines how progress is measured:
- Manual Progress - Manually update your progress percentage
- Number of Sessions - Automatically counts backtesting sessions
- Time Spent (Total) - Tracks total time spent backtesting (in minutes)
- Time Spent (By Symbol) - Tracks time spent on a specific symbol
- Number of Trades - Counts all backtesting entries
- Component Value - Tracks a specific layout component value (e.g., count when a toggle is set to a certain option)
Auto-Completion
Goals with non-manual trackers auto-complete when progress reaches 100% of the target value.
Trading Integration
Trades placed during replay sessions automatically count toward relevant goals (e.g., number of trades). Goal progress updates in real time as you trade.
Goal Status
Goals display their current status:
- Active - Currently being tracked
- Completed - Target has been reached
- Paused - Temporarily paused
- Archived - Archived for reference
Managing Goals
- Edit - Update the goal title, description, priority, target date, or target value (target value can only be increased, not decreased)
- Set Progress - Manually set progress percentage (manual tracker only)
- Pause / Resume - Temporarily pause or resume tracking
- Archive - Move a goal to the archive
- Restore - Restore an archived goal back to active
- Delete - Permanently remove a goal
Edit Restrictions
Once a goal has progress recorded, the tracker type, symbol, component selection, and profile link are locked and cannot be changed.
Limits
- FREE: Up to 3 active goals, 20 total goals
- PRO: Unlimited goals
Tips
- Start with process goals - "Complete 10 sessions" rather than outcome-based targets
- Use the right tracker - Pick the tracker type that best measures your objective
- Set priorities - Use Critical or High for your most important goals
- Review regularly - Check goals at the end of each session
- Increase targets as you improve - Target values can only go up, encouraging growth
