Archiving Guide

What is Archiving?

Archiving allows you to hide profiles, layouts, and sessions from your active workspace without permanently deleting them. This helps keep your interface clean and organized while preserving your data.

Benefits of Archiving

  • Reduces clutter - Remove unused items from dropdowns and modals
  • Preserves data - Items are hidden, not deleted
  • Easily reversible - Restore archived items anytime
  • Better organization - Focus on active profiles, layouts, and sessions

Archiving Sessions

How to Archive a Session

  1. Go to the Session Controller (the sessions page)
  2. Find the session you want to archive
  3. Click the three-dot menu on the session card
  4. Click Archive
  5. Confirm the action
  6. The session disappears from the active list

Viewing & Managing Archived Sessions

Archived sessions are accessed directly in the Session Controller:

  1. Check the "Show Archived" checkbox in the Session Controller header
  2. An "Archived" section appears below your active sessions
  3. Each archived session card shows two buttons:
    • Restore - Returns the session to your active list
    • Delete - Permanently removes the session
Show Archived Toggle

The "Show Archived" checkbox state is remembered during your browser session, so it stays checked if you navigate away and come back.

What Happens When You Archive a Session

  • Session no longer appears in the active sessions list
  • Cannot be resumed until restored
  • All session data (trades, replay state, etc.) is preserved
  • Visible only when "Show Archived" is checked

Archiving Profiles

How to Archive a Profile

  1. Click the Profiles button in the top bar
  2. The Profiles modal opens showing all your active profiles
  3. Hover over the profile you want to archive
  4. Click the overflow menu (three dots)
  5. Click Archive
  6. Confirm the action

Viewing & Managing Archived Profiles

Archived profiles are managed directly in the Profiles modal:

  1. Open the Profiles modal from the top bar
  2. Check the "Show Archived" checkbox in the modal header
  3. An "Archived" section appears below your active profiles
  4. Each archived profile shows its name, archive date, and two buttons:
    • Restore - Returns the profile to your active list
    • Delete - Permanently removes the profile and all associated data

What Happens When You Archive a Profile

  • Profile no longer appears in the active list or selection dropdowns
  • Cannot be selected as the active profile
  • All trade data within the profile is preserved
  • Sessions using this profile show a blurred overlay (see "Sessions with Archived Dependencies" below)
Archive Protection

You cannot archive a profile if it's your only remaining active profile. At least one must remain active.

Archiving Layouts

How to Archive a Layout

  1. Click the Layouts button in the top bar
  2. The Layouts modal opens showing all your active layouts
  3. Hover over the layout you want to archive
  4. Click the overflow menu (three dots)
  5. Click Archive
  6. Confirm the action

Viewing & Managing Archived Layouts

Archived layouts are managed directly in the Layouts modal:

  1. Open the Layouts modal from the top bar
  2. Check the "Show Archived" checkbox in the modal header
  3. An "Archived" section appears below your active layouts
  4. Each archived layout shows its name, archive date, and two buttons:
    • Restore - Returns the layout to your active list
    • Delete - Permanently removes the layout

What Happens When You Archive a Layout

  • Layout no longer appears in the active list or selection dropdowns
  • Cannot be selected for new sessions
  • Existing trade data using this layout is preserved
  • Sessions using this layout show a blurred overlay (see below)

Sessions with Archived Dependencies

What Happens

If a session uses a profile or layout that has been archived, that session cannot be resumed until the dependency is restored.

How You'll Know

  • The session card appears blurred with reduced opacity
  • An overlay message displays explaining which dependency is archived (profile, layout, or both)
  • The normal "Resume Session" button is replaced with a "Restore & Resume" button

How to Fix

Quick Fix (Recommended)

Click the "Restore & Resume" button on the blurred session card. This automatically:

  1. Restores the archived profile and/or layout
  2. Redirects you into the session immediately
One-Click Restore

The "Restore & Resume" button handles everything in one step - restoring all archived dependencies and opening the session.

Manual Fix

  1. Open the Profiles or Layouts modal from the top bar
  2. Check "Show Archived"
  3. Find the archived item and click Restore
  4. Return to the session and click Resume

Permanently Deleting Items

Permanent deletion is available for archived items only. To delete:

  1. Open the relevant modal (Profiles, Layouts, or Session Controller)
  2. Enable "Show Archived"
  3. Find the archived item
  4. Click the Delete button
  5. Confirm permanent deletion
Warning

Permanent deletion cannot be undone! For profiles, this also removes all associated trade entries. For sessions, only the session snapshot is deleted - your trade entries remain.

Best Practices

Archive First, Delete Later

  • Always archive instead of deleting immediately
  • Live with archived items for a few weeks
  • If you don't need to restore them, then consider deleting

Regular Cleanup

  • Review your active profiles, layouts, and sessions monthly
  • Archive anything you haven't used recently
  • Keep your active workspace focused

Be Cautious with Dependencies

  • Check if any active sessions use a profile before archiving it
  • Check if any sessions use a layout before archiving it
  • Archive or complete dependent sessions first

Common Questions

Where do I find archived items?

Each item type has its own location: Sessions in the Session Controller, Profiles in the Profiles modal, Layouts in the Layouts modal. All use the "Show Archived" checkbox to reveal archived items.

What if I accidentally archive something?

No problem! Open the relevant modal or controller, check "Show Archived", and click Restore. Archiving is completely reversible.

Will archiving affect my statistics?

No. Archived profiles still contain all trade data. Statistics are based on the profile's data regardless of archive status.

Can I edit an archived item?

No. You must restore it first, then make your edits.

How long are archived items kept?

Forever, until you manually delete them. Archiving doesn't have a time limit.
